The Foundry builds the capacity of schools for 21st Century life and work. We do this primarily by placing Maker Fellows in schools to assist teachers, coaches and students as they engage in K-12 interest-based S.T.E.A.M. projects. Here are some project examples in each of our S.T.E.A.M. pathways…

This is our story.

In the fall of 2014, the first Maker Fellow was invited to Camp Curtin Academy in Harrisburg, PA. to spark interest around the national maker movement and S.T.E.A.M. projects that were capable of capturing the imagination of middle school students.

Excitement built as the vision was shared and new partners rallied around the effort. Within a year, 2 more Maker Fellows were placed in schools and a new S.T.E.A.M. pathway was forged from Kindergarten to College. The Foundry was born - officially branded as a social enterprise initiative of Partnership Planners LLC.

Maker Fellows

The Foundry Fellows program was established to develop aspiring leaders in the social sector. Each year a cohort of talented Foundry Maker Fellows are selected to build the capacity of schools for 21st Century life and work. Foundry Fellows form a professional learning community of makers and are placed in schools to establish mutually beneficial and reciprocal partnerships that engage students in interest-based S.T.E.A.M. projects.

"We are looking for leaders who have ambition to lead social change in schools, communities and the world around them."
